Coazzolo - The Vineyard of Crayons
Colors "in" the Vineyard
Many are those who have tried to capture the colors of the vineyards to bring them on canvas, photographic paper or, simply, fix them in memories. There are others who, instead, brought those colors back to the rows.
The Vineyard of Crayons was imaginated by Piercarlo Anfosso, the happy encounter between the peasant pragmatism and the long-sightedness of the wine producers who led these lands to the Olympus of world viticulture.
As evidenced by the anthropologist Piercarlo Grimaldi, ex rector of the University of Taste of Pollenzo, in the last centuries, the vineyards hosted anthropomorphic symbols. Signs of protection, superstitious seals, wishes for fertility and good harvest: the fruit of the vineyards has always been the sap of the local economy and, therefore, any insurance on the harvest was welcome.
Piercarlo Anfosso, a producer born and grown in Coazzolo, collected the tradition and transformed it. Lucky symbols became crayons. These crayons, carved in wood, took the place of the head poles of the vineyards. The already spectacular vineyard for location and landscape, today has the forms of a surrealist painting. The colors of the landscape blend with those of the huge crayons fixed in the ground, creating a vibrant and joyful environment, welcoming and at the same time surprising.
The simple and effective contact between art and rows is at the origin of the success of this place, which has passed from being a vineyard to The vineyard of Coazzolo, inevitable appointment of all those who stop in these places.
The vineyard of crayons has another record: it is the most photographed vineyard of social media, with tens of thousands of shares each year.
